  1. MY HEART IS BREAKING!!!!!!!!!!!
(also, Jaden’s big eyes getting caught in the library is so cute)

  2. Oh, Jaden, my heart.

I’m rather surprised that reading a book too old for her results in her being brought into the principal’s office since I frequently read books “too old” for me as a kid in the public library, but I guess it makes sense a school library would be more enforcing on what content is available to what ages.

    1. Yeah I imagine the school wanted to make sure their asses were covered from parents who might get angry at what material the child is reading.

Librarian could also be a power tripper ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

  3. Yeah, even with fifty trips around that mean old Sun I felt the same way when my Mom got her diagnosis. We buried her a week ago.

    1. I’m very sorry for your loss and hope you have time to properly mourn and heal โค

  4. Beautiful work as always!

Honestly this page makes me feel incredibly sadโ€”as someone who has worked at a library, even age-restricted materials are still permitted for, at least, reading within the library, even if a kid canโ€™t check them out. This librarian is completely out of line and punishing Jaden not for breaking a rule (Jaden hasnโ€™t tried to take the book from the library), but for โ€œdisrespectโ€ (not following โ€œplease put it back where you found itโ€). I get, narratively, why this scene plays out this way, but I always feel a little sad when librarians in pop culture are obedience-obsessed guards of knowledge

    1. Thank you!
I completely understand where you’re coming from. She definitely wasn’t meant to represent all librarians and is much more of a product of school faculty letting power over children go to their heads. That’s why on CH10P4 Jaden has a much more positive experience at a public library (Even if a librarian is never shown).

  5. Goddddd FUCK those librarians that used to get mad and yell at kids who were trying to read above level!!
