I am absolutely VIBRATING with excitement, waiting for the outcome of all this
IT’S HAPPENING, EVERYBODY STAY CALM!!!
oooooh my gosh i really did not think she was going to go all out yet!!! im so nervous!! drunk is sooo not the time to have this convo. poor riley!!! the first time being inebriated in any way (especially when you don’t really know what to expect) can be really disorienting and confusing when you’re already prone to anxiety, i hope she’s not too bothered by it longterm because i know personally i did not react well to the feeling of not being fully in control of my body. hopefully she’ll be okay
though admittedly, as much as i vehemently disagree with blaire and everything she stands for, it would also be a pretty jarring discovery for her. like, the first time her girlfriend gets drunk she finds out that they completely disagree on something she’s been pushing on her that’s a major deal, super integral to both of their belief systems, and has just kind of been going along with what she says. it would definitely feel like she’d been lied to which would probably feel at least a little malicious.
blaire’s gone about it all in the exact wrong way and definitely retraumatized riley but i do have to admit it’d be such a stark, confusing change that one second you’re so in love and happy and hooking up in washrooms and whatever and the next she’s seemingly saying things you don’t recognize in her even though you’d thought you were on the same wavelength. all in all it’s just a bad situation to be in.
there’s so many ways this could go, like, they start shouting and so other women get involved and blaire brands this as a terf bar (kind of inevitable) or blaire decides riley’s too drunk to know what she’s talking about so she decides to have the conversation at a later date where riley’s alone, or blaire tries to ambush her with her train army to transplain it to her but there is just…….. no good answer for riley i fear
i LOVE the art and writing for the last few chapters. the atmosphere for this chapter has been especially impeccable, i can’t believe blaire’s squandering such a beautiful evening in favour of gendering someone she barely knows. seriously such a waste of what could be an amazing evening. everything’s just soooo pretty and i love it.
i’ve been rereading LB over the last week and i’m just so monumentally impressed with how far you’ve come with everything. it’s honestly just so impressive and obviously you get this a lot so i hope it’s not too annoying to repeat but it just can’t be said enough how refreshing it is to see normal looking women who aren’t all hairless, hyper feminine and stick thin. it’s baffling how frowned on those things are even among lesbians so i just loooove coming back here and not having to see it. it’s like a vacation lol.
sidenote: i hope you’re doing well!!
Let’s go, Riley, LET’S GOOO!! TELL HEERRR!!!
Riley’s saying what we’ve all thought at one point or another. What IS the difference, Blaire? I’m so excited to see how this conversation shakes down.
IN VINO VERITAS!
Mannnnn… for the longest time Riley was not my favorite character in the story due to her non-confrontational nature, but I feel like that long period of frustration really made me appreciate her more now that she’s finally speaking her mind and challenging Blaire. It’s so satisfying seeing her respond to Blaire’s crap with stony-faced expressions and short, pointed questions – and hilarious how those are maybe all that’s needed to expose the flaws in Blaire’s politics.
This is one of the most beautiful pages of the comic so far, I love the mood and the dancing and the colours… and I’m on the edge of my seat, fully braced for this to go catastrophically wrong in one of so many ways.
My guess: Blaire is going to try to condescendingly (but well-intentionedly) explain the difference in a way that makes no sense, and Riley, who’s heard very similar stuff in a different context before and currently has a very impaired filter at best, is going to say out loud that that makes no sense. I don’t think Blaire is going to take just this question as heresy yet, because she really does love Riley in her way and very likely sees “terfs” as these scary, irredeemable boogywomen, not normal women who disagree, so that doesn’t mentally fit in the same box as her girlfriend without something more concrete happening But once Riley actually disagrees, I think it’ll completely blindside Blaire and I have no idea how she’ll react other than badly.
the floodgates have OPENED!
Come on…. Peak already… You can do it.
Holding a microphone to Blaire’s face: “Go ahead Blaire, tell us. Preach. Fuck it up white girl”
Kinda makes me scare that the author doesnβt even know the difference. You donβt have to be an alley to know what gender roles mean. If youβre making an argument against a majority [slur meaning abnormal or deviant used against homosexual] people, should at least make debatable statements. Not some poor attempt of a gotcha question.
Doubt it will happen but i hope riley keeps just saying what she thinks and asking questions just completely unable to stop herself all while turning into more and more of a monster physically β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
(rocking in my rocking chair in the nursing home) ive been waiting seven years for this
RILEYYYYYYY YOU WILL BE REBORN AS A BEAUTIFUL LOTUS FLOWER
Did you always plan for Riley’s “peaking” to be monster/werewolf-coded? I love the symbolism, and curious how long you’ve been sitting on the idea for.
Have I mentioned yet that I absolutely love how you choose the panels where Riley shows her “monstrous” / Apostate form? It’s always so, so deliberate. It’s such a cool way to visualize how it feels to be asking these kinds of questions, and especially how it would feel FOR HER, considering the environment she grew up in. I know a lot of readers were frustreated with her for not speaking out sooner, but it’s hard! It feels bad, and wrong, and scary!
Also, the fact that Riley’s eyes are gone again… We only saw that one very short glimps of her eye in this monster design, and I miss it. I really hope we’re gonna get to see a full shot of her in this form at some point (even though I love the choice to just have it “peeking through” for now
why did all the gendies come out of the woodworks for this particular chapter. tomatoes arenβt hard enough for them boooo π₯₯π₯₯π₯₯π₯₯π₯₯π₯₯ KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DOING RUSTY THIS IS MY FAVORITE WEBCOMIC
Omg please Blaire wake up πππ I know there’s a brain in there somewhere
AHHH CANT WAITTTT
