PLEASSSEEEEEE ON MY HANDS AND KNEEEEEEESSSSSS- unironically her slowly but surely getting over her conflict avoidance helped me cut off a pretty,,, eh friend this past weekend (TLDR; she got back with her on and off again bf (Who i already didnt like due to his racist and homophobic remarks (partially about “fixing” me and my wife)) and so I confronted her about it and said bf called me a whole bunch of misogynistic slurs(Imagine a incel getting rejected or insulted. Those levels of slurs and,, unsettling detailed threats) and I figured that I don’t need a womyn like that in my life if she wont respect my worries and the female-only life I lead lol) so I am BEGGGGINNGGGGGGG,,, my girl. My pookie. My blorbo or whatever word is for ur fav- BRING! IT! UP! PLEASSSEE!!!

(Also love/hate her but I adore how Blaire has her admirable moments- yes she’s,,, ick but at her core I believe she really does want to help- due to her past as a pych major she probably read about the effects of truama (Including the Ego/Superego/ID brain theory) and the group she includes herself in probably moan and groan about how traumatized they are due to ‘migendering’ or what have you- and due to their explosive (Or at least demeaning/passive aggressive) reactions to any push backs or questioning she probably doesnt want to rock the boat (Female socialization oh how I loath you) and probably puts misgendering on the same level as triggers for say,,, a PTSD attack- kind of forgot where I was going with this but TLDR; I enjoy theorizing how Blaires past as a pysch major has probably affected her relation to the cult she hangs out with and HAS effected her relationship with Riley (And ofc how wonderful of a character Blaire is! A womyn who is both sympathetic but still the obvious ‘not good one’) Paragraph done haha! Wonderful page as always and super excited for next weeks!

i don’t feel like she’s gonna peak peak yet bc she’s soOOoo skittish plus they still have the party which seems destined to go poorly but i like that she’s crackin a little 💪🏻💪🏻 i mean the party coild always end up more as a yonique girls rally around riley kind of thing but it seems pretty engineered to cause havoc lol. i don’t blame riley too much though it took me literal years of silently doubting for it to finally sink all the way in

Okay okay okay, bets on what she’s apologising for. Taking the pamphlets? Not trusting her? Lying? Being about to break up?

Honestly, going by her character so far I would think it’s for not telling her what’s wrong or for running off or just because Blaire seems upset (because Riley is upset), because of all the conflict avoidance, but she actually doesn’t come across as avoidant at all on this one page. I’m going to go with either taking the pamphlets or not having told her how weird and bad the gender stuff makes her feel, but both would be pretty big leaps, and out of them, I think admitting to tossing the pamphlets, though it would probably go badly, feels like the smaller admission. It opens fewer worm cans about Riley herself.

I am gonna groan audibly if Riley fesses up to destroying the pamphlets and acting like she did a bad thing. Please! Open your eyes, Riles! Your girlfriend wants to get a little girl to become trans-identified! I beg of you. Release

Desperately want that new page! Mannnn… I’m torn about what I think is going to happen. On the one hand, that game night has been built up for a long time to be the scene of a disaster… But on the other, the synopsis of this chapter told us pretty bluntly that Riley was going to take a stand.

However it happens, I’m delighted to report that I’m finally starting to like Riley, though. I was always sympathetic to her, but I just found myself frustrated by how helpless and conflict-avoidant she was – when I saw a Riley page I just internally prepared myself to feel bad. Seeing her insight when she finally stops lying to herself and trying to be Blaire’s ideal version of a trans ally is so rewarding, can’t wait to see how she acts after she peaks.

I gotta know more. I wanna know if she truly stands up to Blaire, it seems like it and I can’t sit still whenever I look at this page. I’m also very curious of Blaire’s reaction since her belief in the system is so deeply rooted in her

I would so like Riley to say, “I’m sorry, Blaire. We’re just not compatible. I wish you love and happiness, but we can’t be together.”. But as others point out, she’s still too conflict averse. What else could she apologize for? I don’t think she would flat-out admit to sabotaging Blaire’s efforts of recruitment to the cult. That’s calling for others to be angry at her. But maybe she’s doing exactly that? Giving Blaire the last chance to show that TQ cult is not the same as the cult she grew up in? Giving Blaire the chance to say, “Oh, honey, I love you regardless, now tell me about all your doubts and I swear I won’t judge and not make you believe the same things I believe in”? Yeah, no chance.

It’s going to be messy. The band-aid is going to be removed slowly and painfully. Maybe Riley will share her concerns with Jaden? Oh no the housewarming party! Blaire is totally going to gaslight Riley into pretending that everyhting is good and dandy just to keep face for that party :/

Oh the tension is killing me! But why do I think Riley’s just going to try and brush it off ;0; but Blaire will see that something is wrong! and will push Riles for answers! and Riles will just explode! and-!!!! Ahhhh so many emotions!!!

I’m hoping this is just the breakup, but i ALSO wouldn’t be shocked if Riley just says something like ‘I think Faith is just a normal young lesbian, doing things I would have if i could have’ and Blaire will be like ‘erm… funny you should say that baby 🙂💦💦’ and THAT is what pushes Riley over the edge

I like Riley a lot as is, but her believing in herself to know what is right and (maybe!!!) learning to stand up for herself makes me appreciate her so much more!

On a slightly less melodramatic (but no less enthusiastic!) note, I am loving the tension! The buildup! The (oncoming) drama!

I really really really hope that whatever happens here leads to Riley and Jaden getting closer (cough, cough, *biased*, cough cough) in the aftermath, and I am also hoping that it doesn’t get interrupted before anything can ACTUALLY happen (a restroom was perhaps not the best place to do this, ladies. Someone could walk in!)

Actually… What if someone DID walk in?

Specifically, what if Jaden escaped from the dance floor during a lull in the music and went to the ladies’ for a brief break from all the attention, only to find Riley and Blaire in a full-on Gender Bullshit™ argument?… What if she only caught the tail end, with Blaire clipping her on the shoulder storming out – first from the restroom, then from Yonique as a whole, throwing off her red rose on the way? What if Riley was left there, alone and in tears, with only Jaden to comfort her? What if they were brought closer by this vulnerable and unpleasant experience, and became more emotionally open with each other as a result…

And then because I’m speeding things up a little (a lot-tle, really, lol) in this particular daydream of mine, I imagine they spend the next few days being really gentle and kind with each other and then they kiss about it 💜🤍💚 but that is only the self-indulgent gremlin part of my brain speaking. Speed-running this relationship would not make it better and would probably only lead to it failing… but I love them and the hurt/comfort (HEAVY on the comfort) sappy romantic part of me wants them to be happy together already, damnit!
