I love that addition about action films – media distorts our perception of real fights to the point of caricature. Even more so for women, since fight choreography in majority of times is based on men´s physique.

I love Jaden’s look of realization! It was kind of sad to see her and Shez just barely miss each other during the car ride home, and I think this really helped her understand what Shez was trying to get at, so I’m super glad they got to have this moment

Daemn, Shez lines are so powerful even Jaden’s mouth and nose fell off for a moment (thankfully J picked them back up fast, smooth AF). Iconic, there’s NOTHING that woman can’t do
JK i know its stylization, its was cute. I think the dialogue was on point, she’s right! in the end self defense is for survival not showing off so it did what it was meant to do. Its a good reflection for closure esp for overthinkers, good choice. I like to think Jaden felt all fuzzy and soothed upon hearing it and wanted to give Shamzey a gratitude hug but didnt want to interrupt her mid lesson. She’ll find her right moment eventually i’m sure of it…. Moving onto last panel, does unibrow lady (i recognized her yay) have an established name?? her design was neat too… Lexie or Zoe came to mind but dunno why tho they just popped lmao

Aaah, so she shares her story to show how nut strikes are useful, important, and necessary, no matter what men (or media made by them) say! And to engrave it in their “muscle memory” and get it “instinctual”… does this mean the hands on portion of the self-defense class is about to start, and we get to see Shez and Jaden’s muscles in action?! And she’s saying something really important too. In a moment like that, it’s all instinct, but instinct can be trained. I did martial arts for most of my childhood and teenage years, and even though I’m out of practice now, the instinct is still “fight” rather than “freeze” and my body still knows what to do.
Regrettably had to find that out a few years ago. Strong proponent of girls and women doing at least a year or so of martial arts now.

Upon hearing of Akira Toriyama’s passing, I thought of Shez
