things keep happening, but I’m tryna keep on trucking along
I’ve still gotta tweak this moving background, it looks a little weird still to me, but I’m really pleased with how the houses themselves came out. Similar to chapter 7 it meant going out and getting my own research photos of typical houses in the area Riley and Jaden live.

Saw the hairstyle on Blond Boychild and thought it’d look really cute on a girl, before I realized that was probably Blond Boychild who Bullied Faith. He looks… like he comes from money. Do all schools in Australia have uniforms? I’m guessing due to the cross on his sweater, he goes to a Christian school, which I’d imagine has to be a private school. I wouldn’t be surprised if he thinks his parents’ deep pockets make him untouchable. Maybe that’s why the bus driver won’t give him up. (That and good ol’ male class consciousness…)
Also, this is a really claustrophobic-looking composition – Faith in the corner, her personal space shrinking, surrounded by boys. It makes me really happy that even in the sound novel/animatic format, you’re still gifting us with excellent shots and composition like this.
Anyway, it’s amazing how much your art style has grown since the first pages, and even from chapter 7! I’m really looking forward to Chapter 14!
Rusty, I can’t express enough just how much your comic means to me. Thank you for keeping us updated all these years!
On the note of the moving background, I’d try having three layers (one for the street/sidewalks/fences, one for the houses, and the last for the sky) and moving them at differing speeds to feel more real (I don’t know if that makes sense sorry!! I think it looks great but I wanted to put my own two cents in)
