Spoiler I suppose, but we haven’t seen the last of the Star Shifters, lmao.
I used to while away HOURS as a teenager, armed with nothing but MS Paint XP and determination, trying to make my own “anime”. With the the new video format (and access to much friendlier programs) I’ve been finding ways to incorporate bits of simple animation into chapter 14. The StarShifters, being an in-universe cartoon, felt like a great opportunity to do it. I’m still going for the visual novel/fingerpuppet-y presentation overall, but you know. Variety is fun, and tapping into the passions of my 14 year old self is a great way to stay motivated. For all her flaws, she knew what having fun was all about.
I’ve also been at work on a title card (crunchy gif to keep something saved for the final product).
I thought it’d be fun to include the binding rainbow ribbon that appears on all the covers of LB’s Print Version. Especially proud of how it came out!
Ideally I’d like to craft a little opening jingle too, just a few seconds, but music composition is not an art form I’ve dabbled in. Closest I get is memorizing chords of songs I like and playing them on the guitar. For now the jingle’s on the ‘burn that bridge when we come to it’ pile. If it sparks anything in my more musical readers, lemme know! I’d be very happy to financially compensate a gyn for her time.

I was wondering – as an artist, do you find it easier to storyboard for animation, or do layouts for comic book pages? Would you say the skillset overlaps or is the format too different?
