Re: gay man inclusion, I have added little nods- like the bar Jaden mentions in Chapter 3: T is for ‘Trouble’, that Yonique is likely on good terms with.
I actually joked with my gay male friend that it’s probably called Man Island – referencing a time we were discussing the quote about Sappho “Yeah her “husband” Dick All Cock from Man Island 😉”, and he had said “now THAT’S a place *I* would like to go.”
Theres also Jaden and Riley’s bunkbed that belonged to a gay man before he moved in with his boyfriend ( mentioned CH7P15 & CH8P16).
And the GNC little boy living with his gay, married fathers and pet ferret in Chapter 9: Surprises.
I gave these little nods to gay men to acknowledge our shared struggle as homosexuals against all this bullshit. Also why, even tho off-screen, I’m always implying they’re living peaceful, happy lives. Because that’s what I want for gay men.
But yeah, I just don’t want to have male characters front and centre.
I can’t draw men well and unless there’s a good reason for character to be male, I deliberately default to female. Nice little reversal on all the male writers who claim they don’t know how to write women and that’s why there were none/minimal in their story.

I know Blaire definitely isn’t getting redeemed (which is fine, I’m excited to see her go sicko mode on Riley and lose her shit tbh, I feel like it’ll be fun to watch) but I hope some of the QT collective (like the one woman that’s actually bi) peak and switch sides at some point.
As a former kweer type it makes me so sad seeing their happiness compromised, the beach trip fund getting stolen by someone who showed up last minute is so frustrating 😭 I just desperately want at least one of them to peak and be like “fuck this.” It doesn’t happen often in those filter bubbles where everyone thinks the same way but it definitely is possible, I know plenty of other gnc women like myself who’ve had this experience.
