This one goes out to all the horse girls, and girl horses <3
My dear friend Miss Kory was an instrumental part making the horse page look as good as it does! She picked out all the horses' fur patterns and gave very helpful suggestions when I was picking the poses for the collage.

She has also written a very sweet little fanfic about Rocky and the riding club, which you can check it out here. LB's first (of two) works on AO3! It's only got one chapter at the moment, but I bet with some kudos/comments, she'd be encouraged to continue <3

    I’ve just finished catching up and, as soon as I refresh, like a lesbian angel I see A NEW UPDATE… god is real and she’s a lesbian…
    I LOVE ROCKY SO MUCH I JUST WANT TO HUG HER AND RIDE A HORSE WITH HER INTO THE FAR OFF SUNSET 😭 (and trample a few men while we’re at it-) I’m loving these little snippet comics, the colors are FIRE and learning about my favorite lesbians family is a plus-
     

    You’ve inspired me so much :] I recently got out of gendie stuff (with my SUPER LOVELY girlfriend-) and your comic is the reason why 😭 I used to be a massive TIF and your comic was like being pulled out of cold water 💀 now I’m just a happy lil lesbian working on a comic HEAVILY INFLUENCED off of yours because your stuff motivates me a lot to make my own lil comics with communities where lesbians can just read and have fun chatting AWAY from all the nonsense outside of my little lesbian bubble 😭

        I would love to update ya on it if/when I make it! I try not to put any info about it on any of my main socials because, sadly, I’m not as confident with my beliefs and am scared to get publicly crucified for making just- A COMIC ABOUT LESBIANS WHO LIKE WOMEN 😭 (because obviously that’s homophobic of me for even suggesting women like women 😡!!!!)
        But it’s super inspired off of your writing, the characters you write have a lot of love in them and I love that your storyline isn’t afraid to just write about stuff real lesbians face- (and women in general honestly-) so I wanted to put that energy in my comic! It also may or may not be heavily inspired off of Clancy’s backstory/storyline in specific 👀 because she REALLY resonated with me, like- I literally lived what she went through, whenever she’s on screen I’m just seeing myself 😭

        (Also me and my girlfriend are doing great :] Very happy lesbians who have a very homophobic chihuahua 💀)

          Of course! If I ever manage to find a good site to post it (Because, sadly, I don’t have the funds or anything to make my own website (nor the smarts, I’m just some teenager </3)) I’ll certainly let ya know! :] the world needs more fiction criticizing the kinda stuff that’s shoved down womens throats, ESPECIALLY trans stuff, because, like most things in history, women are always given the short end of the stick- and then we’re expected (or forced) to just not talk about it 💀 it always feels like, when fiction IS written around the subject of trans people, it’s either by-

          1. Some dude who probably has no actual experience with TIFS or TIMS (or probably IS a TIM), and is probably also REALLY sexist… (because I’ve seen so much fiction where TIMS are the main protagonists, and women are the villains… except for the love interest, either a “real lesbian” or a TIF who’s super mysoginistic 💀)
          2. A poor girl who’s knee-deep in the trans ocean we know as t w i t t e r … (I saw an AWFUL comic with anthros where a poor cat-lesbian lived with a dog TIM, and the dog ended up- JUST LITERALLY CLAWING AT HER? BECAUSE HE WAS JEALOUS OF HER BODY? and the audience was supposed to feel bad for the dude, like??? The poor cat lesbian was legit bleeding, and it ended with HER COMFORTING THE GUY???? I felt like I was in the twilight zone…)

          And it’s almost always done really poorly for some reason- even if it is by actual women, sometimes it feels like the real story is blocked out by all the trans stuff, which, while it’s important to talk about the subjects, it’s also nice to ready something with an actual story that treats the commentary as what it is- commentary- Not the whole plot 😭 I don’t need to read a whole paragraph about how a TIM is a “real women” for the fifty secondth time 😔

          Mainly why your comics such a breath of fresh air :] good characters, art, and AN ACTUAL STORY THAT DOESNT CATER TO PEOPLE??? I hope that, when I write my comic out, it’ll be able to hold even a candle to leasebound fr 😭

          (Also I may have replied twice on accident because my wifi is super slow, so it’s really hard to tell when my comments are posted or not 🙁 sorry if any are sent multiple times, it’s most likely just me trying to make sure I actually comment!)

    she looks so adorable with the horse 😭😭😭 it made me so happy for her. she’s so sweet. she deserves those serene moments. it looks SO good!! petition to let that girl own a horse god bless 🙏 also, i see the riley energy too!! something about the careful way they carry themselves, like neither of them are fully comfortable but are very still very sweet.

      Thank you!!! I’m sure as much as Rocky would love a horse of her own that she knows her family could not afford the crazy costs of upkeeping and caring for one – thus works with them instead 🥰. It was very nice to give her a happy little ending after what she went through specifically.
       
      And yeaaaah. Tina is seeing Jacob at his best. It’d be all down hill from there angel, don’t do it, he is nothing like the men written by women in your novels 😔

    Now that it’s considered canon that Tina writes fanfiction, I like to think she also writes ” erotic friend fiction” like Tina from Bob’s Burgers, so she definitely wrote something about the mysterious, broody stranger she saw on the train to get it out of her system.
    I can also see how Rocky and Riley have similar personalities. Does this mean Riley’s true calling is having her own cat cafe? I’m just imagining her looking as happy with a bunch of cats surrounding her as Rocky looks with her horse friends, no longer policing her own thoughts to please the gendies and finally at peace with herself.

      The leap from her wanting to write romance novels to writing fanfiction is sending me 🤣😭 obviously go nuts of course.
       
      Unfamiliar with bob’s burgers but that does sound hilarious.
       
      Absolutely adore the idea of Riley owning a cat cafe too, gosh 🥺🥺 even as a kid she wanted to be a veterinarian so!! I can see it!

    oh the art on this page is so beautiful. I love the delicate line work and the gradients. The first panel looks like a shoujo manga! I imagine tina is romanticizing this moment, maybe channeling it into a story. (I can’t blame her for admiring jacob he has josie’s genes after all…) She seems like a sensitive, kind dreamer type and I’m glad that she’s surrounded by more experienced women who will help keep her teenage fantasies, just that, fantasies. I wonder if Kai started out like this, daydreaming about her yaois lol.
     

    and oh the second panel looks so good too. you drew the horses SO WELL, majestic and strong. I love rockys joy. I see resemblance to shez! I know horse riding takes athleticism, coordination, being in harmony with your own body and the horse. i think rocky and shez might’ve bonded over their love of their respective sports; it would be so cute if shez got riding lessons from rocky! in any case I also wanted to point this out because imo engaging in physically-grounded activities rly helps women feel connected to their bodies and wards off gendie beliefs
     

    I think it is so nice that meriam encouraged her daughters to pursue their own individual interests. I grew up alongside many families of immigrants; my own immigrant mother was a single mom for most of my childhood and I was pushed into attending university and studying STEM. she always emphasized that girls should never be dependent on their husbands. and to secure financially independence, we should work in highly educated fields. I do not regret the path I chose but I wish I had had more time in my childhood to fantasize about being an artist/author/botanist/etc etc without feeling guilty. Rocky, you do you and pursue your passions.

      It’s funny you mention shojou manga, that’s EXACTLY the kind of vibe I was trying to style that panel after. Seen exactly the way Tina saw the moment, basically. A handsome boy her age, bathed in the golden light of the setting sun, totally unaware of her admiring gaze. He hasn’t spoken a word, but Tina is happy to fill in the blanks. Maybe this is just like the chance meeting in the novel she’s reading, a prince charming of her very own~
       
      Very proud of how the 2nd panel came out too! Despite making a photo collage of horses to trace over, it was still quite the laborious task. Definitely the page that took the longest out of all these extras! But it was worth it to give Rocky the epilogue she deserved.
       
      A Shez riding lesson would be fun! I haven’t really thought about how she would feel about horses. Hmm. Stuff for the ‘maybe’ LB notepad.
       
      I can definitely understand the motives behind your mother’s POV, especially given her background, but I’m sorry that resulted in you feeling guilty for having lofty childhood fantasies. Hopefully you’re able to make up for them now. Can never have too many artistic hobbies!

    Ahhhh what beautiful horses! I can really see Rocky bonding with animals much more than people, does she like cats and dogs too or mostly just horses? Also smh poor Tina feeding into such a narrative at such a young age…

      Horses are definitely the highest on her list. They were likely the first, and most prominent animal she saw when she was very little – seeing as Chris’s house was out in the countryside.
       
      We all have to start somewhere! With any luck Tina can learn that Prince Charming’s only exist in the pages of books written by other women, and be happy reading and creating more, rather than seeking out a poor imitation in real-life men.

    Girl is a cowgirl for real omg I love her so much. She needs to have some adventures as the silent but kind bandit. But I'm so glad she still got to have a fulfilling childhood afterwards. Love the horse drawings too, they actually look pretty natural along with your style. Farmer/Rancher Rocky is my future headcannon and she will live happily forever after looking after these noble but fragile animals.

    Also….hettie bettie is craaazy 😂😂😂 You know this girl writing mafia boss wattpad fics. "My subway crush can't do laundry?!" fanfic headass. I better not see Jacob in Meriam's house kjskjskjskjs

      I could definitely see Rocky as some kind of silent horse bandit. Plenty of fanfic potential there!
       
      NOT the mafia boss wattpad fics, omfgggg. ToT. Rest assured he would absolutely not be allowed in Meriam’s home. Jaden, Josie, Nana? All welcome. Jacob waits in the car.
      I’m picturing all the women around a dinner table laughing enjoying a meal while he’s visible in the outside window, lmfao.

        OMG the fic idea…I feel like she could be in sort of a comedy/action/drama type of series. Like she is a mute countrywoman who’s only interested in running an unassuming horse breeding and training; but she is always stumbling upon strange or dangerous scenarios that force to act in order to protect someone or keep the peace in her little side of outback. Ms.Clicker writing era??!!

        Also, I can imagine Jacob as a mafia boss, here:

      Thank you!! The trick was tracing them LMFAO. Something I have come to learn is a skill in and of itself – gotta know where to put the lines and where to leave them out. But yeah, the heavy lifting was done by searching “horse girl” on pinterest 🤣 it was fun planning out the collage tho!

       
      I was much more comfortable taking liberties the riders, just using the photos as positioning guides but yeah phew. I was not gonna be able to draw them from scratch in anywhere near as quick a time 😅😅
