  1. Damn, I understand where Josie is coming from, but I’m glad Jaden did what she did.

I had that talk with my mom when I decided on my own where I wanted to study and told other unis I applied to that I will not be studying there. She thought the chosen profession could not earn me money, and she absolutely loathed the idea of me going to another side of the country. But it worked out SO well for me.

Even though I, too, was scared, and ridden with impostor syndrome. So you go Jaden!

    1. Oh god, imposter syndrome πŸ˜”πŸ˜”
Good on you for taking the leap though! I’m so glad it’s all worked out for you πŸ₯°πŸ₯°

  2. This is SUCH a good page art wise like the framing really helps make the emotions heavier I think!

    1. Thank you! I am still incredibly proud of this pageπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

  3. I love seeing Josie’s face hidden behind the laundry before her distraught, worried face is revealed. The build up! The emotion!!
There are many people who aren’t able to go to university, and I can understand Josie’s fear. It is harder to go back to school once you’re out (though not impossible). Life happens and it’s harder to pay the bills and go to school at the same time when you suddenly have a million new adult responsibilities.

I love your writing. Without saying anything directly, I already get the impression that Josie had a chance to go to college, she dropped out for some reason, she thinks she “threw away” her future, and “got trapped.” She doesn’t want her daughter to make the same mistakes she did. She wants a better life for her daughter than she ever got because she loves Jaden so, so much!! My heart hurts!!

    1. Thank you!!! I am so proud how this page turned out. I think it’s one of this chapter’s finest!
And yes, you are correct. Josie chose love and lost, she’s very worried Jaden is doing the same.

From her perspective, Jaden is repeating the cycle she’s already suffered through. But from Jaden’s point of view, she’s breaking the cycle, choosing to do something she truly loves, rather than being trapped like her mother. U_U
