I LOVE the art style of this one. The roughness… the expressiveness of the small thin sketchy lines… the TEXTURE,,, OH, SWEET, DELICIOUS TEXTURE…..
i think the art style of the internet that tends to be most popular is like… Neat And Clean… people love those Crisp Clean Lines it seems like… might just be me but that’s the impression i get in most places…. it really leaves me longing for stuff like this page….
Texture is so delicious and so often not used by digital artists…. gosh it’s just so… beautiful, to me…. That sketchy look. something about it. so organic. came out of your human lesbian hand and i just know that. I just know it when I look at those wobbly lines they feel so Real to me…
It feels so emotional. clean is nice i love clean and polished stuff but sometimes it feels almost inorganic, to me personally. The sketchy stuff has a rawness to it that I love. AGAIN NOT TO SAY CLEANER ART IS BAD JUST…. me like sketchy.

I like style shift from panel to panel, there’s so much fun stuff a person can do with emphasis and making things stand out. The contrast of the first two panels and the last two panels… i’m huge on contrast sometimes.
Feel like when you put sketchy stuff right next to cleaner stuff, they both Sing. both have their own beauty and appeal. tho it’s all very subjective. that’s just me. mmm good.

This made me so happy to read, thank you! The texture is actually a result of my scanner. All of these mini comics have been doodled by hand – it really helps me let go of imperfections and get super loose with shapes.
I usually create the basic shapes I want with a highlighter marker and then sketch over with a ballpoint pen. When I scan I set it to Black and white, which creates that nice grain you’re enjoying!
That’s also the cause of the discrepancy in the final panel. Less texture because I wanted the blanket to stand out so I went over the highlighter base several times there.

Men who create confidently never shut up. They will dump all kinds of crap about how they Are So Genius. And no one is ever going to really tell that man to stop. A lot of the time people drool all over it. They’re DESPERATE for him to share insights into his process, his artistic intention… A lot of the times when an artist is a professional, people LOVE to see what was going through their head.
and you’re a genius too, glorious rusty. I liked seeing you confidently talk about your work all eager and excited. We don’t see that enough from women. Women who KNOW what she’s made is GOOD, and talking to people about it….
There are times you slip something into your comics that I’m not clever enough to notice, and it’s always a bit of a relief to me when someone else notices it, or when you yourself share a little Something no one else has seen. I don’t want to miss something just because I’m not always the most clever observer 🙁
BUT ALSO. I do, I truly do see letting people interpret your work as they want and not having the influence of your own hand-holding to make sure they “get it”. People can make their own interesting conclusions as well. That’s definitely a fun part of making art, people bringing their own ideas about the work.

it’s always your choice. I just think it’s important that I share my opinion in letting you know I love it every time you ramble about your art and your creation. I think a lot of creative girls are told to shut up, or told that their work isn’t good enough to rant and rave about it when she’s excited. I want you to do what feels best to you, what feels natural.
If being more quiet feels better to you, then go for it! I’ll miss reading what you have to say, but you’ve already done so much making your art and sharing it for freeeeee! 💜

I guess I’m trying to find a balance between gushing excitedly and trying to make sure people are reading LB correctly.
Because as you said, I am genuinely proud of Lease Bound. I spent a lot of time being it’s only hype woman, and it has stuck. I spend so much time thinking about it I’ve gotta share it sometimes ( A side effect of any friends who’ve met me through LB is they get spoiler dumped on whatever I’m currently working on in the story, LMAO).
First and foremost I want the women reading to be having a good time while doing so. I’m glad to know you enjoy the behind the scenes, and rambly stuff. I think I just need to pull away from more more ‘corrective’ comments sometimes. But I don’t think I’ll ever stop sharing to readers who are interested, or pointing out parrells/plots/poses/dialogue i’m incredibly proud of.

real talk tho i do think once in awhile a corrective comment is definitely okay HAHAHA you might feel that way too, hence the “sometimes”……. If your work is being super duper misread then you sure as heck are allowed to say something!!! I’m glad you’ve openly expressed frustration with people fawning over your male characters for example. sometimes a correction is… good. And if someone asks for what you intended with your art, they’re obviously interested in hearing it too.
I just kinda hope no one out there has ever expressed being ANNOYED at you for explaining for sharing your own intentions on your OWN ARTWORK you made and shared.. FOR FREE! that would be so crazy. the internet sure has changed in terms of art consumption. a lot more oriented towards people who look at it, a lot less feedback and respect for the artist these days. I hope no one has any “shut up and don’t explain and let me consume this without your words attached ya dang annoying talkative artist” vibes. that would be wild.
