    I find this a pretty interesting example of how community sometimes makes things worse. Because it seems like Tif is having her irrational hatred of women stoked by someone whose biggest motivation is probably just to alleviate their friend from distress, but is ultimately helping them continue to isolate themselves from meaningful and important relationships.
     

    Also the most base part of my brain is like “yey female friendship” even though this one is a bit toxic 🥲

      I’ve been in friendships/friendgroups that absolutely made each other worse like this. Sometimes you really need a friend to tell you you’re wrong and doing something harmful (to others or yourself), but in those groups, every emotion and action is valid and you’re always all collectively victims of everything other than the consequences of your own actions.
       

      Though we all thought we were helping. And of course, crushes massively complicate that dynamic, which I’d imagine is happening here too…

    Absolutely infuriating. I find it hard to be around women like this, who lean soooo hard into misogyny as if it will save them. Like they can avoid being hurt by it by throwing all other women under the bus. It’s funny, she reminds me of some deeply religious women I’ve known.

    I know this was probably intended as a “MJ in love with a straight girl”, but honestly not my first impression. Maybe it’s cause I’ve been in the same position as a normie where someone I really cared about as a friend wanted special treatment and I would break my back to do so cause I didn’t like seeing them unhappy.
     

    Not to cause a fan-war on the Tiff-MJ ship or anything. Just MJ’s behaviour is too relatable to a previous platonic relationship I had.
    (This may be why I have more sympathy for Blaire in the QT’s than most. Been there and drank that koolaid)

          It won’t let me reply to your comment so I will put this here, for a suggestion on Parniya extras, hmmm maybe you could do one of those progression pages that shows her at different ages from young to older showing her problems with height at that age, and on the last panel it should be her bonking her head on something and then the hurt spot being kissed better by Shez, to show that even though she still has problems with being a tall woman, she has a supporter now.

          But you know.. I would just be happy with her working out in just a sports bra and sweatpants 👀

    Everyone else is shipping her with MJ but I hate Tiffany way too much. Have since her bio page. All the het QTs are pretty bad, but she takes it to next level, and I really don’t care WHY she’s doing it either.

     
    Misogynistic fujo TIFs rarely, ime, have some kind of trauma that other women don’t, and often in fact DON’T have any kind of special tragic issue besides being entitled, homophobic, stuck up woman-haters who think they’re too special and individual and totally a gay maaaaaan to be a gross icky ugly woman. I just don’t have sympathy for that, nor would I wish it on MJ.
     

    She made my blood boil too with the “just a girl” bit, but I’m more sympathetic to her since she’s actually an ssa woman from a traditional family and she seems actually somewhat kind…women like Tiffany are not kind, and they do not deserve to reap the fruits of female friendship while despising all other women around them.

     

    She doesn’t deserve anything BAD to happen to her, she just doesn’t deserve female love and support either as long as she treats her fellow woman like this. Speaking of, I bet her BOYFRIEND wouldn’t do this shit for her. If sound bitter, it’s because I’ve known them, I’ve been their supportive female friend, and the nasty, toxic, homophobic male-worshipping misogyny is REAL.

     

    Also, while I’m here—-really sideying all the love and demands for a bio, more appearances, and buddying with Faith (who is like twice his age and probably not interested in babysitting) that Nicholas kid.

     

    Like yes, cute kid, but I’d rather see the ferret, and I just find it sus how the second a non-awful moid appears, the gushing begins. Yes, he’s little now, but he’s clearly already learned not to give a shit about Jaden’s time and boundaries, and while the dresses might seem “cute” now, it makes me wonder if he’ll keep seeing women’s oppression as an accessory when he’s older, and if he’ll be interested in the non-fun gnc things like, say, doing the dishes.

     

    Maybe I’m harsh, maybe I’m overreacting, but I just feel like the female socialization really jumps out in hopes of a “good male” or one perceived as at least harmless.

      I want to make it clear I that I welcome all kinds of comments and interpretations – and I’m generally encouraging to all because I love seeing engagement with my work (especially when reactions to characters take me by surprise).
       
      That said, the dressing down of Tiffany’s actions/ behaviour and passionate hatred you have for Tiffany was deeply cathartic to read and entirely warranted.
       
      I also hold deep contempt for women like this. The snobbish, entitled way she’s written is absolutely meant to reflect that (but still be fun to laugh AT in an “omfg this WOMAN!!” kind of way).
       
      You put it brilliantly when you said that she doesn’t deserve anything to happen TO her, but that she also doesn’t deserve the fruits of female friendship (that MJ is laying at her feet rn). Loved that.
       
      I too was disheartened to see comments specifically for more Nicholas bio/side stories that directly referenced my Male Character Policy. Male fawning is such a hard female socialisation to break, and it reminded me why I need to use men as sparingly as possible if at all.
       
      Even in a story full of women, one man, no matter how bad, can take the spotlight. Not even the AGPgang were bad enough to prevent women fawning for them.
       
      I had multiple women constructing entire AUs where they were just dysphoric men, who actually advocated for women. (Which again, I thanked to encourage engagement for, but was still disheartened by their focus on fixing such vile creatures. And this is also to say nothing of how the amount of fanart for AGPgang rivals that of all the fanart of every single female character).

       
      I also got anons who frequently asked if they would be getting redemption arcs – some for just the two who didnt get a chance to assault Jaden before Parniya chased them off, some who admitted they didnt remeber how violent the balding one was.
       
      Like all male characters in LB, Nicholas exists as a device to boost female characters. Specifically, he is there to create comedic suffering for Jaden – like in his comic appearance how she searched in all these inconvenient places for the dang ferret, only for him to be under a staircase.
       
      I will say, those who liked the idea of Nicholas being friends with Faith likely didn’t realise the age gap. I never wrote it anywhere to my knowledge, but you are right. I intended him to be four or five-ish (while Faith is ten).
      Going to preschool a few days a week sort of thing (hence why he’s home during the day).
       
      I loved your point about how he’s cute to many now by virtue of being a little kid, but that his patterns of behaviou could take a more severe shape as he grows up.
       
      It’s not something I had given much thought to, because he’s such a minor character he doesn’t even have a bio – but it’s an excellent point.
       
      So is the way you touched on hid specific brand of gender nonconformity. It’s all well and good for little boys to be able to dress up as Elsa without ridicule, but will he take up female-dominated chores with the same gusto?
       
      Again, something that wasn’t really taken into consideration because of the minor role he plays. It’s why him wearing princess costumes is never addressed by anyone. I got a lot of flack for “hating feminine men” with the AGPgang, and wanted to put an example of neutrality towards it in my work with Nicholas. That’s its function.
       
      But you are right. Even as one of the non-antagonist males in the series, Nicholas has many faults and shouldn’t be fawned over.
       
      Anyway, once again, thank you for your comment. It was a pleasure to read and I’d love to see more of your thoughts!

        Aw I’m glad! I felt I might be reaching with Nicholas, but it really does bug me how people—presumably women, given the comic’s target audience, and presumably radfem women at that– will gush and grab at the slightest male content.

         
        It’s also always irked me how, while feminine behavior IS indeed ostracized in men/boys by society at large and that’s not right, there’s also the demographic that will just go gaga over praising a male performing feminity in a way they would never laud a woman, and I don’t think that’s right either.
         

        I don’t think they should be lambasted for wearing dresses and heels and so on, at least not from a place of sexism and homophobia, but the way so many women will leap to praise and adore them for just doing ….what women are expected/made to….leaves an uncomfy taste in my mouth too.
         

        And again, it’s always dresses and heels and makeup and “fun” stuff that they can take on and off, it’s never making dinner on the regular. Which I would not expect Nicholas to do or want to do since he’s four, but you take my point.
         

        And yeah ugh like all the art for AGP gang is like…insane. And not even just hate art, but like you said, AUs where they’re NOT the despicable misogynists and are sympathetic dysphoric or genuinely gnc men. .

        Ditto for the common (at least it seems to me) requests for a positive male cast member. Seems very sus to me. I’m sure there’s a population of nice gay gender-critical men in the Leasebound setting, but you know what, we’re never gonna see them because they’re doing the most decent thing they can and staying out of the lives and business of women, especially lesbians.

         
        That’s my hc for where all the “good” males are.

        Also re feminine men: I can say I for one never saw the AGP gang as a dig at gnc men.
        They’re very clearly a criticism of a very specific type of rapey fetishistic sexist man who sees womanhood as a sexy costume and a way to gain access to lesbians. There’s nothing “feminine” about that behavior despite it involving the costume thereof (which probably helps with tricking a lot of women into seeing them as harmless–the ol’ “wolf in sheep’s clothing” deal.
         
        They certainly don’t pass as women, but they might be taken as genuinely “feminine” gay men if you were a normie who didn’t know better) It doesn’t matter how much makeup or ruffles a man wears, there’s nothing more male than the entitlement, rage, violence, and rape threats/fantasies that result when told “no” by a woman.
         
        Nicholas’s dad doesn’t wear dresses or makeup that we’ve seen, but he’s tons more genuinely gnc just by apologizing to Jaden and not trying to recruit her as a babysitter. The AGPs version of feminine is all artifice, not authentic, based in their own very MALE fantasies of what a woman is. That’s how I see ’em anyway.
         
        Not actually feminine at all, much like how Tiffany’s refusal to speak to a waitress isn’t actually masculine at all, as another commenter pointed out. it’s a very FEMALE sort of sexism. And the AGPs form is very, VERY male.

    SIGH Ive been quietly raging over this page. i dont like you tiffany. these women are so sexist against women while still being women. mad that the voters are forcing me to see more of kai soon. waiting for the actually cool characters who aren’t sexist to save me.
     

    I know some people want to see them kiss but personally I want to see them fight because Tiff refuses to speak to a woman, but MJ is like “…..wait” bc she sees parts of herself in the woman that tiff refuses to speak to. Like the woman Tiff is refusing to speak to is just like. A LITTL gnc or whatever. But Tiffany needs WAY more then MJ does to be like “oh it’s ok this woman is Not A Woman She Is A Person” so Tiff refuses to consider this woman as anything but a woman until the woman PERFORMS Enough Not A Woman behaviors and renounces womenhood to satisfy Tiffany’s women hatred enough.

     
    but yeah i want to see them fighting and arguing and I want MJ to be like Ok Thats It and then Tiff has to realize how much she’s been relying on MJ’s labors (IS MJ ALSO THE ONE WHO DOES ALL THE DISHES?     anyway thats my unwritten LB fanfic about qt collective drama. it ends with mj and clancy running away. when they re-enter normal thinking they suddenly have so much more brain power to devote to their studies bc this gender crap took up so much time and effort and they ace every class and follow all their dreams forever the end. unhinged slightly disoriented and tired concept but hopefully enjoyable to Some One.
     
    really MJ you are coming off like a total doormat and that is unfortunately relatable to me Ive spent many decades as a doormat. I feel like Gender has given her one place to explore standing up for herself and getting her whims catered to. people who jump through hoops to identify her in the right way must feel good after a life of being STEPPED ON!!!       Making these comics has given me some ideas for further exploration in the future – but we’ll burn that bridge when we come to it.

        as much as i dislike Tiff I also think about her. I wonder if she would ever pick up the concern of “transandrophobia” (I think that’s what they call it…) and have a secret meetings with other “trans mascs” to talk about how isn’t it weird how much more attention trans women always get. There has to be at least SOMEONE who is annoyed that the man derailed their club completely, even if they’re too afraid to say anything. Transandrophobia is so funny to me. transmen seeing that the males in their movement are prioritized, they recongize sexism but can’t name it in a normal way…. At least that’s my experience with reading them talk about it. Would love to see Tiff fight what’s his name president. Would love to see Tiff win that fight. Me and my wild imagination.
         
        You’re a real good writer and I’m eager to see what you do. 😀 I dare to hope, because you assured me about a “pleasantly surprise”. but i’m not gonna lie, ever since with what happened to our beloved angel Alex, I understand to fear your power as well. You can rip me apart if you so please, and the gendie characters are a fine tool for destruction. Tho as much as they annoy me, they are way more fun then the violent male characters. But again…… Pleasant Surprise….. So the next comic is not the time to be destroyed… (yet…)

    Also re Parniya extras: Maybe interactions with Shez’s family since she lives with them? And they’re all women, so more woman centric relationships! I realize this might put you in the pickle of needing new character concepts/designs though!

      Oof yes, that would be a bit tricky – and possibly spoil their planned debut!
       
      Next chapter will be delving into Shez’s family and backstory quite extensively 👀👀
       
      I would do have future plans to show Parniya’s dynamic in the family tho!

    Rusty, for some months now, Lease Bound has been my beacon in the darkness, in the midst of all the gender nonsense (and other stress in my life).
     

    So a really really big THANK YOU for drawing it to us mere mortals <33 I can FEEL through my screen the exact frustration these gals (Jaden and Co.) go through, bless their socks.
     

    I relate especially to Riley's panic/sorrow right now in my life. I've recently met this damn wonderful woman in my work and we've really got to known one another on a deeper level.
     

    She's such a wise and lovely person and we've become such good friends in a short time and talked all things feminism… BUT she has drunk the trans kool-aid and told me how J.K. Rowling has ruined her childhood by being an asshole.

     

    It's really depressing since she's SO close to peaking (we've talked about biology mattering despite libfems wanting to make every space all-inclusive) and I'm afraid of losing her for good if I talk about my thoughts freely and honestly 😔

     
    All my friends pretty much agree on the trans stuff and recently it's just been really hard to stomach the idea that they would probably view me as a hideous person if they knew my real opinions – you know, that women are a sex-class and should be talked about as such.

     
    Some might call it cowardly that I'm hiding, but I'm just not willing to cast those (otherwise fulfilling) friendships away. It's depressing.

     

    Anyways, just wanted to rant that this comic and other radfem content gives me strength and joy 🙂 Keep being awesome. Also can't wait for The Big Storm 🌩️🌩️🌩️

      It all depends how much homphobia/misogyny/misinformation you're willing to put up with in the end.

        ❤️ Thankfully, I’m not going totally crazy since none of them are like Cuties (Lord knows I’d get myself the hell away) and wouldn’t claim something as rapey as “a gay person is a genital fetishist”…. just the usual “trans women are women and every opposing argument is discrimination” etc. That fan art meme about a fan peaking Blaire is my utopia lmao.

        The Big Storm will be a long-awaited band-aid for my Yearning XD

    mj isn’t even nearly annoying enough to be with tiffany. as the two most annoying qt members, BRICK and tiffany belong together. i want them to meme themselves into a relationship and then drive each other insane.
     

    also, respect to the people who don’t wish any harm on tiffany but i truly do want to throw (actual) bricks at her. i know this isn’t very feminist solidarity of me but if she got hit by a car id be pretty happy! id never wish harm on any non-fictional fujos but tiff is truly the most intense caricature of one of the worst types of people ive ever met so i want nothing but bad things for her.

     
    i really hope blaire tells her to fuck off (i know blaire is also bad but the difference is i can fix her!). blaire might not deserve a redemption arc, but i still want her to at least grow enough of a backbone to tell off tiffany for being such a stuck-up asshole to her and other women
