As a context refresher: (since it's been nearly 4 years our time lmao)
CH2P11 - Lucy (former Yonique bouncer) called in sick, and Jaden was then contacted to fill-in for her.
CH6 - BONUS PAGE 2 - Ruth mentioned Lucy had been let go.

    First of all Jaden in the second panel is so cute with her blush!! Jaden/Violet anyone? Anyone??

    Secondly thank you for the context refresher because I was like wait who the hell is Lucy, but also I was blown away by how much your art has improved since the early chapters! The colours are so vibrant and the character designs are very pleasant to look at.


    Also the composition has improved tons as well! You’ve really come into your own art style over the years and as a fellow (just a hobbyist for me) artist I love seeing this amazing progress. Consistency really pays off.


    Also I have been a LB reader since probably the first or second chapter came out and I seriously love it! I check for updates every sunday since timezones work in my favour like that, but sometimes I’ll even check the page when I know there isn’t an update, just to read the latest page again.


    I was wondering how many more chapters you have planned out? Or do you already know the ending as well? I do hope we will get a few more years of LB but of course you can’t keep creating it endlessly. Either way I have complete faith (heh) in your ability to tell this story to the end, I’m just a bit inpatient ahah. Sorry for the rant and thank you for the update as always Rusty! ❤️

      And no worries about refreshing! I feel like it won’t be as much of an issue for any future LB bingers who read up until this point in a smaller amount of time – but for everyone reading a page a week I feel like reminders can be necessary 😅


      Thank you so much for the kind words about my art improvement too 🥺🥺 I’m so, so proud of how far I’ve come! It’s crazy at every chapter I distinctly remember thinking “okay well I’m not gonna get any better than this.” But!! Everytime I do!

      LB is such a cool record of my progress and I’d definitely reccomend it to others 🥰🥰


      I have quite a number of chapters roughly planned out, with some plot events planned. But the spaces between the big plot events haven’t been completely set in stone, there’s still shifting and changing going on.

      I also have an idea of how I’d like the story to close, but it’s super far off. 🤣

    As shitty as this is of Lucy, you have to wonder how often scrotes are trying to get into the club and getting violent when they don’t get their way if a woman is calling in sick every time she’s put on door duty.


    Makes me think of when I worked in a convenience store and I considered calling in sick so many times for my late night shifts because drunk and/or high moids would get physically violent with me so often over cigarettes or chewing tobacco or some shit.

    The anxiety of knowing I was about to get screamed at, threatened, and harassed by drunk middle aged men all night was enough to give me a stomach ache every time I was on my way to a night shift.

      For reference – at the very least, Jaden said there hasn’t been any incidents of men pulling shit since she’s been there (CH6P40). And she’s been there three months (CH9P11)

      Really sorry to hear how much abuse you had to deal with from men at work though… what the fuck 🙁

    As a USAmerican I’m reeling from the idea of sick pay.
    And the dramatic twist that Jaden got beat up when SHE DIDNT NEED TO. That poor baby got thrown to the wolves 😭😫💕

      😅 condolences on being American.
      Here in Aus paid sick leave gets accrued for part-time and full-time workers. So it slowly builds up as you work.

      “Cash in hand” is slang for “paid off the books” though. So the implication is Lucy has already used up her accrued sickpay, but Ruth is still giving it to her anyway, to try and be a good boss.

      Lucy recognised that and took advantage.

    ……………… maybe Lucy and her gf could be brought back as women who are more “in-the-know” as women who are branded “terfs”?

     
    I kind of like the idea of adding in some not-so sympathetic characters who agree with us and having that complexity there.

     

    Like Lucy is  a selfish jerk, at least in this case, but there’s a reason she got hired at Yonique in the first place (knows what a woman is).

     

    She would almost be perfect to return as someone who gets all the factual points right but is such a lazy fake-activist about it all that she mostly serves to alienate people from peak trans-ing and disrupt attempts to organize irl among some discord server of local radfems by being an asshole to her friends, and selfish (promotes her own Brand(tm) maybe at the cost of doing anything real?).
     

    Maybe she then redemption arcs, or not. You know, I should probably start writing Leasebound side character spin off fan fiction at this point.
