BETWEEN BONUS: When Riley Met Brick Page 2

This week's lineartist is: the highly insightful comment section regular, Miss Kory!

The thumbnail I gave her: [here]

My favourite thing about this page: I love how Kory added so much more to the panel 2 pose by putting Blaire's hands around Riley's neck, rather than on her shoulders as I originally envisioned. It's so subtle but sinister. She is also responsible for Brick's much more pronounced clown nose!

Mushy Stuff: Kory is an incredibly kind, thoughtful and intelligent woman. I am so thankful for how often she has offered advice on how to make LB better (and worse in a good way, hehe >:3), and also that by making LB , I had the good fortune to meet her at all.

Shout Out: Kory has her own webcomic she's working on the first chapter of! It's called Chevaleresses, and she describes it as a feminist, lesbian fantasy story. There are already several pages to enjoy - so please send some love to her inbox!

  2. Oh man, Riley has no idea what a bullet she just (at least temporarily) dodged with that absolutely adorable non-answer. I love her. What a sweet, smooth thing to say.

It’s really creepy how Blaire puts her on the spot like that, especially the phrasing. Sexual boundaries as “obsession” and same-sex attraction reduced to “what’s in people’s pants” as if it wasn’t so much more than that. Sadly an attitude I’ve encountered plenty.

No, it’s not just about what’s in her pants, it’s also about voice, and scent, and general shape, and all the million little details. (But it also is about what’s in her pants, haha.)

Very fitting and typical of Brick to be disgusted by very very mild same-sex affection, too. But she’d lose her shit for sure if anyone implied that might be homophobia! She’s ~queer~ after all and couldn’t possibly be homophobic, you aphobic bigot, or something like that.

    1. Ignorance is Bliss for dear Riley, and she’s about to lose it completely 😔

Blaire’s absolutely putting Riley on the spot to keep her in line. She doesn’t want to be accused of transphobia by association if Riley says something wrong – the horror! 😱

I will never be over the disgusting homophobic talking points that gendies dug up and re-popularized. The way they twisted “hearts not parts” from “same sex couples love each other the same way as opposite sex couples. Regardless of which sex you love, we all feel love” to “the sex of the person shouldn’t matter. If you only like one sex you’re a bigot“.

The whole “genital obsession/fetishism” misnomer is so fucking dishonest as well! As if the gender crowd didn’t spend countless back and forths with gay people, fencing off language we could use to describe our exclusive same-sex attraction.

      Lesbians:

we are only attracted to women.

      Genders:

      transwomen ARE women.

      Lesbians:

we are only attracted to females.

      Genders:

only incels call women “females” and transwomen have female brains and their bodies totally become female when they take hormones. The “mouthfeel” of girl dick is different. Lesbians use strapons so why not girl dick??

      Lesbians:

uh many of us dont even like penetrative sex. And a strap on is not a dick.
But okay, we are only attracted to the same sex then..

      Genders:

umm conversion therapists use that term therefore you’re a conversion therapis (Don’t you dare bring up their SafeT Sexuality is Fluid talking points they use on homosexuals!!)
Also sex is a social construct! Anyone who feels like a woman is a woman.

      Lesbians:

jfc we only want pussy!! Dick is disgusting!!

      Genders:

so you see women as walking vaginas?? You’re just like men. You’re misogynist. You’re disgusting.

You have a fetish. Kinkshaming is bad, bdsm is cool, but you having a fetish for a body part its literally impossible to have a fetish for BECAUSE ITS FUCKING GENITALS, is evil and unforgivable!!.

I will NEVER forgive gendershits for this one. And I eill NEVER let them forget what they did.

And you’re spot on about Brick. Modeled after all those disgusting homophobes who would bemoan same sex couples kissing at pride because they’re “asexual”. Uh huh. Almost like peoppe who lack attraction to anyone.. shouldn’t be grouped with people who all share same-sex attraction 🤯🤯🤯

      1. Right on! It’s funny how it’s the same people who whinge about how PDA makes them feel “uncomfy” at pride (🎻) are the same people who say grown men wearing ABDL stuff, bondage gear and dressing as sexualised female caricatures while walking their girfriends on leashes around KIDS at pride! “Is an integral part of the queer community” (real quote) 🤢

Saying kink shouldn’t be at public pride events is kinkshaming and bigoted but being disgusted at same sex affection and calling gay people degenerates for “fetishing” genitals is progressive.

  6. Miss Kory did a delightful job on the lineart, both with the poses, face expressions, and with Brick in all her clownish glory!

Brick seems to think lesbians are attracted to she/her pronouns and (mtf men’s) self-image. Noticing the shape of someone’s body? Their voice? The parts of their body they’d touch during sex? A nonfactor, Brick is sure 🙃

I really wish Riley had said “that was PDA?” out loud. I understand why she’s afraid to stand up for herself, but it’d be satisfying to watch Brick sloppily explain why it’s not homophobic for her to show disgust at Blaire saying “aww, baby” to her girlfriend (in what was formerly a gay org…).

Also, they have her in a chair while they saunter around like the “good cop bad cop” routine in a police interrogation. That’s so telling. (Is it just me, or does the trans movement employ this tactic a lot? “It’s oppressive and wrong and boring at best for cis girls to do (a given thing), but that same action is unquestionable, beautiful, and revolutionary on a trans man/enby.”)

Rusty does justice to the “Emperor’s new clothes”/upside-down paperthin-veiled-homophobia of the “TQ Union” every time the gendies appear, and now that they’re interacting with an actual lesbian, I wish I could reach into the screen and pull Riley out of there.

Also, it’s unnerving how anytime Riley is visibly confused about gender ideology or having cognitive dissonance when she tries to integrate the beliefs, Blaire never really answers her questions, instead opting for caressing her, initiating sex, or similar (iirc the “maybe exploring your femininity in a non-traumatic way will help” panel shows Riley’s face covered in her lipstick marks).

I don’t like it, and can only speculate what’s going through Blaire’s head in those moments. Something tells me Blaire barely thinks it through – something like “she needs my affection so she feels reassured” – but that doesn’t make it any less creepy.

Blaire gives a talking point, cuddles Riley so she doesn’t concentrate on the lesbophobic/misogynistic implications, and feels no need to discuss it or think about it further. After all, that might make either of them come to new conclusions, and those have to be preapproved by the trans movement.

  7. Question!
How would Brick react if some transwoman forced a relationship on her? I’m talking a creep who keeps persisting to wear her down to date her? Would she keep up being asexual sex averse, or would she double down?

    1. but rusty said brick is straight so she would agree??? MIND=FVCKED

      1. Why would Brick agree just because she has the capacity to be attracted to men?

        4
        1. bc thats how u view sexuality? commenter asked what would happen if a trans woman forced a relationshio on brick which is a deranged question imo

so if a cis woman forced herself on brick would that be any different or wut

would they decline cuz the fvck cis bitches thing going on or cause they’re straight

also u got so angry u changed the pronouns i initially used for brick
my house my rules libertarian rusty w
this one’s gonna be censored as well.

        2. Are you asking how I view sexuality or are you telling me? You seem very certain of my beliefs.

Yes, trying to force someone into a relationship is deranged. Welcome to the point.

Yep, no pronoun pretend games here. We use sex-based pronouns because they accurately describe reality.

          7
        3. what if riley declines the hypothetical trans woman just bc she’s not into him and not cuz he’s not a woman

just cause u wouldnt date a blonde or a tall woman doesnt make the woman less of one
only jerks insist that preferences are discriminatory and u should force yourself to like blonde/ginger/tall/short/skinny/fat/cis/trans women
plus trans women are just regular people u cant throw them around and ask whether someone would fuck them or not like theyre toys with zero agency.

no one’s self worth is determined by how fvckable they are
i was mentioning the original comment bc it doesnt make any sense.

wym by “Would they keep up being asexual sex averse, or would they double down?”

what kinda dumbass fvcking question is that, no one owes anyone sex and everyone in their sane mind knows that
is it cause male privilege so brick has to give up her personal boundaries to please the male?

but Brick is straight so she should be alright with that right?

then what even does it have to do with being trans and not with crossing boundaries
op is either just dumb or fucking with us or their joke is dumb as shit try make a good one again

        4. what if riley declines the hypothetical trans woman just bc she’s not into him and not cuz he’s not a woman

TIMs aren’t women, they’re a subcategory of male. I cannot be transwoman because I am female.

If Riley declined the hypothetical TIM around this crowd of trans supporters, she would be labelled transphobic, a genital fetishist, and TERF.
Brick’s behaviour is based on (and stands to critique) beliefs popular among trans ppl and their supporters that I and other women (many of whom are also lesbians) have had the displeasure of interacting with.

just cause u wouldnt date a blonde or a tall woman doesnt make the woman less of one
only jerks insist that preferences are discriminatory and u should force yourself to like blonde/ginger/tall/short/skinny/fat/cis/trans women

Some of these things are not like the others.
Sexual Orientation is not a preference. It is the sex(es) your attraction orients around. Set in stone.

Homo= same sex. Hetero = the other sex. Bi = two, aka both sexes (female and male).

Hair colour, body size/shape/height, are all preferences.

Lesbians do not have a preference to not date TIMs. They are exclusively attracted to the female sex, of which TIMs are not and can never be. Elaborate surgeries or other cosmetic procedures done to deceive are not proof of this either.

Jerk is a much tamer term than I would assign, but regardless yes. Only bad people do this, and it is an incredibly popular way of thinking among trans ppl and their supporters.

It is not fringe behaviour. It is at the heart of the ideology. If “transwomen are women” atleast SOME lesbians have the capacity to be attracted to them – that’s where the thinking comes from.

But we don’t. Because they are male.

          (My original)

          (“Art fix”)

Why do you think this is a popular way to respond to lesbians expressing our homosexuality?

plus trans women are just regular people u cant throw them around and ask whether someone would fuck them or not like theyre toys with zero agency. no one’s self worth is determined by how fvckable they are

Agreed. And a willingness to fuck someone isn’t activism anyway, right? Like whether or not you say yes or no to sleeping with a hypothetical TIM – that hasn’t done anything to improve the treatment standards of his possible dysphoira, or aid TIMs who are prostituted to get out, has it?

Brick, like many who support gender ideology don’t give a shit about that stuff. Once again: welcome to the point.

i was mentioning the original comment bc it doesnt make any sense.
wym by “Would they keep up being asexual sex averse, or would they double down?”

what kinda dumbass fucking question is that, no one owes anyone sex and everyone in their sane mind knows that
is it cause male privilege so brick has to give up her personal boundaries to please the male?

but Brick is straight so she should be alright with that right?

I believe the point of the hypothetical was to point out Brick’s hypocrisy. She thinks Riley must ignore her innate lack of attraction to males and boundaries as a lesbian, but would likely be appalled had the same question been turned on her, even if by a TIM.

So she would be faced with choosing between being seen as a hypocrite (and transphobic/ a “terf” by many trans ppl and supporters) OR following the standards she expects of Riley.

You seem to be mistaken about sexual orientation. Brick being heterosexual doesn’t mean she is attracted to ALL men. Nobody attracted to men is attracted to all men.
Even if she was open about her heterosexuality, why do you think that removes her agency to say no?

The removal of agency comes from her belief (based on IRL trans ppl and their supporters)that rejecting TIMs is an act of transphobia.

then what even does it have to do with being trans and not with crossing boundaries
op is either just dumb or fucking with us or their joke is dumb as shit try make a good one again

She wasn’t making a joke, nor is she dumb. You simply did not understand what she had to say, and did not put forth any effort to do so. I can only guess, based on your attitude, it is because you do not like that we know and say TIMs are male, and largely only continue to read LB and the comments in bad faith.

That, and you do not understand the positions we hold nor the experiences we have had with trans activism.

        5. on the first claim
ok, riley would get told that then what? suck it up, or are u gonna avoid confrontation for a good chunk of your life just cause someone would call you something mean
especially if you know they’re in the wrong

          on the first claim pt2
yeah just like a green eyed woman cant be a blue eyed woman or a 6 foot woman cant be a 4 foot woman. there are male women and female women; more widely known as trans women and cis women
gonna repeat myself that being attracted to either exclusively is not discriminatory and this claim should be fought against
woman is a social role, while being female is biological. though transgender people in/post medical transition cannot become fully male/female at the moment, theyre almost male/female at best and intersex at worst. it doesnt represent reality to claim that cis passing transgender women do not live through some to most of cisgender women’s experience and must not be included in discussions of women’s rights

          on the second claim
some lesbians like trans women. it doesn’t make them any less lesbian. not strictly homosexual, perhaps. lots of lesbian transgender women prefer other trans women to cisgender ones. it doesn’t make them any less of lesbians. most lesbian cisgender women prefer other cisgender women. again there is nothing wrong with that, that is just the reality. if someone doesn’t like it, that’s a problem for themselves to resolve. however it’s counterproductive to deny these facts

re: if a cisgender lesbian is attracted to a trans woman she is not a lesbian
even if that’s true, why does it matter if she still identifies as a lesbian? what does it change or affect? they still experience homophobia if they pass as a lesbian couple
is it about identity purity? why does it matter if someone identifies with a label in an uncoventional way?

          other claims
no one except terminally online weirdos claims that rejecting someone transgender is transphobic
most adult transgender people realize that theyre consciously shrinking their dating pool and that a relationship built on forcing and pretending is much worse than no relationship
again if someone says otherwise, theyre not viewing this issue realistically

i have put oh so much effort to get cheap jokes from the comment sections of the entire comic to no success
an easy way out is to call someone bad faith
most likely not understanding what that stands for

        6. Let’s do a reading comprehension exercise, feels like you’ve missed a lot them in school. You seem to be struggling with the obvious – why would Riley be afraid to be labelled transphobic.

We’ll forget the real world where women are de-platformed from speaking at or hosting gender critical events, fired from their jobs/taken to court,, where lesbian bars and women’s facilities are either rebranded as “inclusive” (aka, allowing males) or closed down, and just focus on just comic information to make it nice and easy for you :3

          1) Riley likes her girlfriend Blaire. Blaire thinks it’s bigotry to not be attracted to males, even if they call themselves women.
Why mightn’t Riley want Blaire to know that she isn’t attracted to males even if they call themselves women?

2)Riley and Blaire work together, at a store managed by Blaire’s aunt. Blaire is also an assistant manager, training to be a manager under her aunt.

Is there an imbalance of power in this relationship? Explain why/why not.

How might Blaire use her position of power, were her relationship with Riley to end messily?

          3) Riley is often avoidant to her own detriment. For example: she hid her cat from her previous landlord and was evicted, she avoided telling Jaden about her cat until she was absolutely forced to, and then avoided telling her current landlord about her cat until it became unavoidable.

Do you think this is a character-flaw within Riley, or a writing flaw of the author?

That concludes the LB reading comprehension exam – have the papers on my desk before the end of class. Hopefully we can improve your skills together :3

Let’s do another one on the importance of language being defined collectively, rather than individually, so that it can be used for its intended purpose: to communicate with one another! Yay 😀

1)There are vegetarian carnivores, and carnivorous herbivores.
Highlight which words are misused in this statement, and provide their actual definitions in your answer.

How might the above phrases be unhelpful when communicating with others?

Is it “identity purity” to state “herbivores do not eat meat and thus cannot be carnivorous. They only eat plants”? Explain why/why not.

How might a vegetarian (someone who does not eat meat) be affected if they ordered a vegetarian meal, and were served meat, because the chef believes that vegetarianism can include carnivores?

How might an animal that is a herbivore (only eats plants) be affected in the care of a zookeeper who believes being a carnivore is simply an ‘unconventional way’ to be a herbivore?

Is a vegetarian who eats meat someone who approaches vegetarianism “unconventionally”, or are they using a term dishonestly? Explain why/why not.

Okay last and final one! It’s just one question: does successfully fooling someone into believing your something you aren’t, mean you have become what you pretend to be? Explain why/why not.

          Thanks for coming :3

wait i know an excellent excercise just for you please highlight the dumbfuck troll logic you put into implying being a herbivore is a social identity >_< dont worry, if youre stuck, we can go over this together!
it's not like eating meat as a herbivore affects you physically while being forced to have relations with someone traumatizes you psychologically which only applies to humans, so i totally get what youre saying now
Did you read it with your ass? Explain why/why not.
Is there any sense in me talking to you any further until you have learnt to not be such a condescending [misognyy redacted by rusty] Explain why/why not.

      2. trying to reply to 😱 here excuse that I couldnt figure out how to in this long chain. I would like to try and explain something.

“woman is a social role, while being female is biological. though transgender people in/post medical transition cannot become fully male/female at the moment, theyre almost male/female at best and intersex at worst. ”

-The gender critical stance is because we are critical of the idea that gender(sexist social construct enforced by patriarchal standards) should be the standard of identification of a person instead of sex.

Having your sex recognized will say nothing of your personality or clothes and only of your biological structure, important for things like laws(protecting sex based rights) and medical care(woman and men have differences that affect medical treatment).

You cannot become partially female. Intersex(or people with DSD) are not partially female or male(its this idea that causes DSD children to be operated on in the hopes of making them “fully male” or “fully female”. The idea that surgically operating on their genitals or providing them with hormones that do not match their biological structure makes them closer on some spectrum of sex that doesnt exist.). They are males and females with diagnosable conditions, diagnosable because we can know their sex(yes all conditions).

I reject the idea that DSD conditions has anything to do with trans arguments and reject you using them as pawns but I entertain your argument for education purposes and hope you think about getting a deeper understanding of DSD conditions before using them in your arguments.

“is it about identity purity? why does it matter if someone identifies with a label in an uncoventional way?”

we reject this perspective on the grounds that you cannot identify as a sex. While you personally try to differentiate between sex and gender, you still refer to biological males as “trans women”.

The word woman is the humanizing word for a adult human female. Just as a doe is a female adult deer or a mare is a female adult horse.

Even you try to say you are differentiating between sex and gender, you still think our sex based word (woman) should be overridden by gender, eradicating the distinction. This is what we fundamentally disagree one.

You know they are men, you just believe they should be able to lie about that and that others should be forced to lie that they believe them as well.

        5
        1. 😱homophobic straight girl says:

gonna reply to you since youre not acting like a baby unlike rusty
i agree with the point that sex should matter in discussions of medical care however self identity is a human right too and individuals struggling with gender dysphoria should receive proper care as well, be it therapy or transition
i never said you cant tell people’s sex.

i just said that it doesn’t and shouldnt matter in larger contexts when the person is percieved as their (self identified) gender
i would argue that it is important to differ cisgender people and medically transitioned transgender people because they require specific care, that’s why i argued transitioned people are not fully the other SEX but also not their birth SEX
the identity purity comment was not about gender identity it was about sexuality.

i meant it as so what if a lesbian woman is attracted to someone other than a cisgender woman? why does it matter if she still identifies as a lesbian? what does it affect or who does it harm?

why are people so pressed about bisexual lesbians or lesbians with exceptions?
yes, i get what youre talking about but a doe has no sense of identity neither does a mare. sexuality and gender are entirely human concepts. there are no transgender/homosexual/heterosexual animals other from humans thats what my entire point is about
i “know” they are partially/previously male, not men. male and female are neutral descriptions, but man and woman are social identities which wrongfully get conflated with the descriptions for human sex.

a percieved social identity defines which socialization you go through, how people address and treat you, how you are most likely to act (again socialization) etc. it is not lying it’s having a self identity and expecting others to have some respect towards it, especially if the person is struggling with dysphoria

if someone who is transgender goes through hrt, srs, changes all legal documents and is living daily life as their gender, why does it matter what their initial sex/gender was? what does it affect? since theyre treated as their gender, they cant just opt out of misogyny by saying actually i am a trans woman so you must respect my male privilege by birth and expect people to immediately apologize and bow down to them

        4. What would “cocksucking” have to do with straight women when sexuality has exceptions in your eyes, breastie?

          -100%

(Also Miss Mare is a straight woman. Oopsie for you again Silly Billy!)

          3
        5. Mare Arbustorum

gonna keep it short since you are very ignorant. My response being about sex instead of sexuality is also because of the below response:
          Women are adult human females.

Lesbians are women who are attracted to women. We disagree on the fundamental idea that you can identify as a sex(and therefore, sexuality, which is sex based).

I also understand why you would believe sexuality can identified into if you do not understand that homosexually, heterosexuality, bisexuallity are in fact present in other animals besides humans and is not socially constructed.

Also due to the insanely batshit and homophobic thing you just said I wont be arguing with you further, and also rusty is the one who has to defend her sexuality (which you literally just tried to claim was a human social construction and not a biological phenomenon present in nature.) to ignorant homophobes like you, she doesnt owe you any decency as all yall do is come in her comments and spew the most ignorant hateful bullshit.

You should be embarrassed and ashamed.

        6. Third Sex Chromosome But Not Third Sex

Hey Mare, just wanted to say thanks for sticking up for people with DSD. It’s not freaky third sexes or proof of a spectrum, it’s “just” a damn medical condition. No one claims humans aren’t bipedal just because some birth defects result in not being born with two legs. And it’s got nothing to do with trans anyway, nor is it an identity. So, thank you.

          2
          4
        7. Mare Arbustorum

Of course. Trans supporters love these two popular tactics in their debates.

One is to use alternative definitions while refusing to acknowledge that their definition has any significant difference so that the conversation can only ever be talking past each other.

The other is to invoke DSD because they know majority of people (including themselves) do not know enough about it to continue the conversation.

The trans movement aims to not only normalize identifying as a sex but also identifying as having medical conditions. Trans people do not become “basically intersex” and interfakers cause real harm to DSD individuals and their ability to receive proper care. Its sickening.

          1
        8. Yo did you seriously use the phrase “bisexual lesbian?” … think about what you just said. This is what happens when words have no meaning.

      3. Can I add something? Just 2 cents Regarding your “Why does it matter when someone uses a label in an unconventional way? what if a lesbian woman is attracted to someone other than a cisgender woman? why does it matter if she still identifies as a lesbian? what does it affect or who does it harm? why are people so pressed about bisexual lesbians or lesbians with exceptions?” somewhere down there (i cant reply there for some reason so using this comment instead, sorry)

Let me try to put it in a way that i feel can help you understand Rusty and Mare’s side better. For reference, I am not RadFem, an activist nor a religious conservative.

The example: Consider There are transwomen who say they are women and agree they should be counted as lesbians because they are just as much women as the rest, and get offended if you call them male or men or he. Lets call these Type 1. Also there are transwomen who say they’re not women nor female, and dont use the lesbian label and DGAF if you see them as a subtype of men or male as long as they get to use a new name and look how they want, and still use male bathrooms. Lets call this Type 2. Both groups are composed of “trans people just living their life”. Okay.

Now lets suppose that for whatever reason the number of Type 2 comes to surpass the number of type 1. Would you get angry and offended if someone said “trans women are not women/lesbians/female/etc” or “trans women should not enter clubs and facilities for women” and pointed to this type 2 group as part of their reasoning? Woud you let it go and shrug?? Would you tell type 1s “Why are you so pressed about getting called a man? you’ll survive”???

Another example: Suppose you have a group of gay men who view the label Gay as meaning “man x man sexual desire” and then you got another that meant “man x man or man x child or man x animals desire” and then you got another that meant “man x truck or man x pillow desire” (a type of objectophilia).

If the second or third group became the head of “Gay Rights” how do you think it would affect how people conceive of “gay men” or what “gay rights” and “gay dating”must involve??? Once again, would it not matter to you these “unconventional uses” whatsoever???

Yet another example: Would you (re)act the same way if a big group of natal females started calling themselves ‘DFAB trans women’ and started using trans women housing orgs, trans women charity funds, trans women support groups and so on?? What do you think would happen? Do you think the DMAB trans women should respect their identity too and not be exclusionary??

Things like these do not matter when its 1-3 individuals. It matters in larger numbers and affects conceptualization, which is the base of everything else.

    2. See that’s the one boundary I’ve seen respected – at least when it comes to the “would you date a transwoman” nonsense.

It’s an all or nothing situation. You need to be open to everything. Or closed to everything. Anything in-between is exclusionary.

Why I think you see a lot of young girls using it as a defense strategy against these kind of attempts at boundary crossing.

    3. >plus trans women are just regular people u cant throw them around and ask whether someone would fuck them or not like theyre toys with zero agency.

Yet trans women are the first one to whine “no one want to fuck them” when they go to lesbians because they know they’re men, no matter how many surgeries they perform. Almost like if bi/pan women do not exist to them. Hmmmmm.

  8. Omg Bricks face in the first panel 😂 she’s such a clown, her disgust at such mild affection between a same sex couple is so incredibly weird as well
This artstyle is rly good tho, I look forward to checking out Korys webcomic!

    4
    1. 🤡🤡 hope you’re ready for more brick-brand clownery next week! 🤡🤡

And I agree! Kory did a fantastic job with this page and she’s got some really awesome stories to tell in her own webcomic 🥰🥰

      1
    2. *delighted blushing giggle* Thank you !

  9. How some of you find Brick too is beyond me, my dear gyns.

    5
  10. Brick: You are a lesbian but would you sleep with a TRANSwoman???? You are a TERF if you don’t.
Also Brick: Keep the PDA to a minimum! Ew!
Girl just asked a lesbian if she would sleep with a male and then got mad when said lesbian is sweet with her gf 😭

    2
    1. Umm the Motives are totally different. Brick was asking invasive but necessary questions to protect twans women 😤😤😤
Meanwhile Riley was committing aphobia >:(

      3
    2. Ikr! Tiffany can read her gay fetish smut out in the open, Timothy can prance around, bulge visible from space, but oh no… a woman stroking her girlfriends head 😱 Won’t somebody think of the children!!!

      8
  11. I’m a pro-trans detransitioner and I really love this comic. I think LB does show a lot of the homophobia and more insidious sides present in the trans community, and it helps me understand the pain that GC lesbians feel as their community feels pushed aside in the wake of trans activism.

I know plenty of trans people who aren’t like the QT Collective and I hope someday there can be a happier medium. Keep up with the beautiful art though. I love Blick and I LOVED Chapter 9.

    7
    7
    1. Welcome to the comment section and thank you for contributing to it! I hope you continue to enjoy reading LB, and that you’re detransition has brought you more peace 🩷

  12. Now that I’m not using my phone, I can leave a better comment! Brick reminds me so, so strongly of someone I used to be friends with who showed disgust towards lesbians/bi women and hid behind her label of asexuality to get away with it.

Like, full on visceral UGH the moment I saw the last panel. She always went out of her way to say things along the lines of DON’T WORRY, I’M NOT GAY!! no matter how innocent my statements were, cos eww, sex.

It all likely came from her older sister more or less being disowned by her (very religious) family, but boy, was it sure something.

Brick, regrettably, is true to life in more than just her Gendie ways.

    3
    3
    1. Sharing your visceral UGH moment, breastie U_U
Very glad to hear you aren’t friends with this homophobe anymore!

  13. I’m loving this guest pages project. Great art from Mare and Miss Kory 😁

Ew, Brick is a nasty piece of homophobic work. I don’t look forward to the big blow-up at all but at the same time, I just want this crappy relationship to end so Riley can drop these homophobes from her life.

    3
    1. I’d definitely love to host guest artists in the future! It was really fun to watch everyone add her own flavour to her assigned page, and it was like a vacation for me, because I didn’t have to draw anything, just thumbnail and colour!

Unfortunately there’s only one way out for Riley, and that’s to speak up. But, as I hope you can see from these flashback stages, she’s had a lot stacked against her U_U

    2. Thank you <3

  14. God, we were introduced to the Gendies when they were in home territory and weren’t dealing with any issues more significant than a children’s cartoon – they were dumb, but they (mostly) came off as mostly harmless.

This bonus material has been great to ease people into just how trans activists tend to be when challenged in any way (or even when they AREN’T challenged, as seen here) and I’m starting to worry about how bad things will get. Tiffany is by far the uncontested Worst of them but Brick is effortlessly giving her a run for her money lmao, can’t wait to see more.

    1. You should absolutely trust your gut breastie :3 It is going to get much worse.

  15. Parniya’s biggest fan

Marcie: I don’t like dick, how DARE you force me to like dick, I am ASEXUAL!!

    Riley: I don’t like dick.

    Marcie: what the fuck?

    3
  16. Miss Kory you did a fantastic job on Brick’s emotions. Actually everyone’s emotions! I esp like Brick Yuck face (v punch-able) and Riley’s That Was PDA? face (I wear that face often when seeing certain Hot Takes online).

And yessss another comic to follow!!!

    1
    1. I agree! I got the pleasure of watching her create Brick’s YUCK face in real time, it was hilarious!
Hope you enjoy reading her work <3

    2. Thank you!!!
I’m so relieved everyone is liking Brick’s yuck face ! And that you like Riley’s too <3 *twirl my hair*

I'm working hard on my comic and I'm delighted for your following 😀

  17. i just don’t understand why it’s so hard to seperate your own preference from your respect for others. a very large majority of trans and trans supporting people agree that you don’t have to like what’s going on in their pants or date them. no one is forcing you to. but trans people and still people who aren’t doing anything wrong to you by living their lives. you don’t have to fuck a trans woman. but fucks sake didn’t your mother teach you that if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all? maybe learn to be respectful and just not concern yourself in what doesn’t concern you. -a cis lesbian dating a cis lesbian

If you are truly invested in only being nice, why did you send this? Not very nice imo 🙁

Perhaps your time would be better spent understanding other lesbians who have face harassment for expressing that they will never like dick, no matter what a dick-haver calls himself , instead of pretending they haven’t experienced it because you’ve personally kept your head in the sand.

From legendary lesbian and feminist Magdalen Berns: I’d rather be rude than a fucking liar.

    2. Your mother told you to hide your homosexuality to be nice? 😟 I’m sorry if that happened to you but that doesn’t mean it’s okay, or give you the right to force other lesbians in the closet to save a sexist or mentally ill man’s feelings.

      11
    3. “trans people want to live in peace, yadda yadda yadda”, but they’re the first tones using homophobic slurs against gay people, erasing or modifying history to prove “we were there!” when ancient civilizations were homophobic and misogynist as Hell and, even if you don’t want to see it, they’re the first ones forcing you to date them even “if that never happens”. Quit joking around, you came to the wrong place to defend those “innocent” trans people.

  18. Riley’s face at the last panel is everything. She tried to contain the shock but the whiplash was too strong.

Truth be told i am not sure if Riley’s answer was swiftly smart or a lucky brainfart moment hehe. Regardless that was very smooth. Will tha be enough for Brick though?? Will things get calm for now or escalate?? We’ll see 💀…

Miss Kory, in the chance you read all the comments, great job!!! You’re really talented when it comes to drawing hands, it was the first thing that drew my eyes in on the page. Best wishes for your project too!! 🤗❤❤

    2
    1. According to Rusty this IS “the calm before the storm”… absolutley bricking it (lol) for the next few pages 😅

      1
      1. Uhmm wait has there been a misunderstanding??? According to you, where have i “admitted” that I think lesbians can be attracted to males?? Because I dont think that and dont recall saying that, perhaps i phrased things wrongly but I thought we were on the same page that orientation is around sexes and not inner self identity, even if we disagreed somewhat over the topic of asexuality. Could you tell me where did you get that impression?

        1. Sorry breastie, the mix up is on my part. I misread who Jay replied to.

I’ve had a busy comment section today – with some homophobes in the mix. I didn’t read clearly who Jay was replying to and mistakenly thought it was one of the homophobes (username: 😱) – not your comment.

Working with a website builder at the moment to make the comments less easy to mix up!

But we definitely do see eye to eye and I very much enjoy your commentary 🥰

      2. I was envisioning that Brick would get a sudden call and have to leave before Riley got to endure more “femininity exploration tips” causing this flashback to end and if any other collabs pages were to come they’d be about something else peaceful, then we get longwinded Shez magic for plenty nourishment and rest, THEN gender drama again with the masquerade conflict or something, but I guess that was too naive and gentle 💀 The remaining pathway leading to Shez chapter has been set full of thorns and glass shards, no mercy no balms no shelter.

        1

hey rusty. its me the lb hater discord mod again. i see youre arguing with someone in the comments again.
genuine question: why dont you try including the strongest points of all the “homophobic straight girls” (at this point theres gotta be at least 10 of them, right?) in your comic? why are you so obsessed with picking the weakest possible arguments? im not trying to be mean, im genuinely curious as a beginner writer myself. this way of creating art seems counterproductive to me, especially considering your fans think lb is somehow deep and revolutionary. right now i have the impression you people dont want to challenge yourself and read this comic to feel good about your current beliefs. how are you that confident in your ideology without ever thinking about it? i guess you can do whatever you want but if i were to do that i wouldnt want other people to think im creating something meaningful. peace

      1. see this is what im talking about. its not the gotcha you think it is. you have just proven youre only interested in making yourself feel smart without thinking too much. people genuinely want to talk to you and you respond with trick questions (if i say yes (which is what i would say if you were asking this in good faith) you will use this as proof of me being homophobic based on a definition of lesbianism that has literally no utility for most lesbians wanting to describe their experiences, if i say no you will say i basically agree with you on everything). obviously youre not obligated to answer but maybe i would understand your position more if you did. it would do you literally no harm to take some time and write an actual response considering you obviously love being condescending to your haters

        2. I think everyone is missing the point about ‘can lesbians like dick’ or whatever. Imagine some average women, who were born female, grew up as girls and went through female puberty, looked liked other women with the same general body shape and proportions and whatever, female-typical hormone balances, and were in all social and physical respects biologically fully female. If these women somehow magically grew penises in their twenties due to some divine curse, and nothing else was affected, I think it would be possible for lesbians to still be attracted to them and have intimate contact with them. Even then some lesbians would probably reject those people just bc they’re really turned off by dick, but others would be fine and could still be lesbians.

In fact, there are XX people who develop male-presenting genitals, and XY people that develop female-presenting genitals, and this can lead to problems with their sex identification. These issues are incredibly rare, but it’s possible, and this is a messy gray area.

HOWEVER: this is not what trans women are. They’re not ordinary biologically female women who just happen to have penises through some cruel twist of fate. They’re also not (usually) people affected with some genetic disorder that screwed with their development. They are more often than not, ordinary, perfectly healthy men with XY chromosomes, were brought up as boys, and had functional testicles that could (sometimes still can) produce sperm. None of them look like women, no matter how much medical treatment they go through, and this is even more clear when the clothes come off.

Everybody needs to stop acting like lesbians are ‘genital fetishists.’ Not only is that a perfectly valid reason to not be interested in sex with somebody, it’s also not even the whole story. Stop trying to brainwash everyone into seeing 2+2 and perceiving 5. And, for the record, it’s totally possible to do things like this via behavioural conditioning. I think the reason we see so many ‘cis lesbians’ showing support and having relationships with ‘trans lesbians’ is because they’ve genually been socially conditioned into seeing obvious non-females as women.

Finally, Rusty can correct me if I’m wrong, but I never thought LB was meant to be some grand philosophical treatise or politically rousing manifesto. It’s a story. I’ve never seen anyone call it ‘deep and revolutionary’ – they just love the art and the characters. Art isn’t meant to encapsulate the entirety of an issue. If it does, good for the artist, but that’s not what Rusty wants to do. At least she’s not ascribing these arguments to actual real people who haven’t made them, like what TRAs are doing to JK Rowling and the likes.

          4
        3. With all due respect – I understand you are trying to find some middle ground here – lesbians do NOT like dick. Never. It’s a male body part. There IS no fucking middle ground.

I don’t know what poccessed you to think writing that implausible magical divine curse garbage was appropriate OR reverent, but it would absolutely NOT be the case that “some lesbians would be okay with it”. Do you fucking hear yourself?

You are literally describing a fetish many TIMs have, and a hypothetical they and many other flavour of homophobe have asked lesbians many times to consider.

“What if you loved your girlfriend in every other way but she had a dick?? :(”

“If your girlfriend grew a dick, wouldn’t you wanna try *actual real* sex just once to feel closer to her??”

Why do you think “correctional rape” exists? Because homophobic scum genuinely believe lesbians can be “cured” of our lack of attraction to men. Conversion therapists would REJOICE if “some lesbians” could like dick.

Do you know many of them encourage the exact “look passed the gentials love the person” rhetoric you described??

Disorders of sexual development affect males and females differently. They have nothing to do with trans bs, irrelevant to the discussion, not proof “lesbians can like dick”. Do not know why you brought them up other than to pretend there’s a grey area to the exclusiveness of homosexuality.

There are two reasons a lesbian might date a TIM. And it is neither of the reasons you have described.

          1) she is lying about being a lesbian. The amount of women who call themselves lesbians but still experience attraction to men is fucking staggering. Even outside of gender shit. Every other day there’s a tiktok or a post by a woman who says she’s a lesbian but sleeps with men when “she’s bored”.

There’s the whole “political lesbian” movement where non-lesbian women see lesbainism as a “feminist choice every woman should make” and see ACTUAL lesbians as lesser for “relating genitally to other women” (Mary Daly). Julie Bindel, Andrea Dworkin, Cathy Brennan, Sheila Jefferey’s, Adrienne Rich.

          2) she has been fucking bullied into treating her dating life like activism and fears the repercussions enough to traumatize herself to avoid it.

Do you know how many death/rape wishes I’ve been sent for doing what I do? For expressing my lesbianism publicly?
Why do you think people have sent me drawings of my lesbians characters eagerly performing felatio on TIMs? Why do you think someone would think that would be effective against a lesbian? Why?

LESBIANS. DONT. DO. DICK. EVER. PERIOD.
And YOU are currently part of the problem.

I started leasebound to see the lesbian representation I wasn’t seeing, and to challenge myself to write female characters with as much depth and humanity most writers only afford to men.

There’s plenty of feminist influence to my writing, and the trans critical angle is there because unfortunately interacting with trans nonsense has been forced into being a common lesbian experience.
           -
I got very sick of searching for lesbian media, only to be constantly disappointed because – much like you – the creators were under the impression lesbians can like dick under some circumstances.

          10
          4
        4. I’m so sorry Rusty! I never meant to critique you! I was aiming that at sasha/drunklolipop and trying to get her to understand.

[and the stuff about DSDs was just meant to pre-emptively deflect possible questioning along that line bc I didn’t think it was relevant and I don’t know enough about it to refute anything].

But I can understand why you are mad at me. I’m not very sexually experienced and I shouldn’t have spoken for people that are.

        5. I understand the desire to try and preemptively shut down bogus intersex arguments before they happen, but honestly, if someone tries to bring up disorders of sexual development when arguing about trans ideology they just aren’t worth debating in the first place. It’s a dishonest, deliberate deflection, and shows their own lack of understanding about the subject.

Sasha’s ‘geunine curiosity’ is as genuine as trans identities, she’s a long-time hate reader following in the same tired footsteps as many of my other gendie detractors. And she also thinks lesbians have the capacity to like dick, so she is absolutely not worth your time. Again, I get it’s tempting, especially when people spew the most insane shit, very natural. But she’s not worth your time. Nor her friend who was also commenting, the moment i stopped engaging she just started sending random, sexually graphic comments. Her IP’s been marked permanently as spam. I think it’s for the best.

I don’t understand how a lack of sexual experience would lead you to believe that lesbians would be happy to engage with penises in any circumstance. The ‘curse’ you described was deeply upsetting to read, huge nightmare fuel. I cannot think of anything worse. I hope that came across, and you examine *why* you thought that, and how harmful it is to lesbians.

I do appreciate the commentary, and I always love to see enthusiastic engagement with my work, so I hope this hasn’t discouraged you from doing so.
          Cheers <3

    2. I don’t have anything to do right now except waiting for my food to be done, so I’ll give it a shot. Hi. Speaking for just myself, not Rusty.

Many of us, myself included, were on your side to begin with. We’ve heard all the arguments. We’ve constructed and deconstructed them for ourselves over the course of months or years. We’ve been harassed, threatened and called names, we’re tired, and we make art about our experiences because there’s no art for our experiences already out there and because most art is a way to deal with your experiences in some way.

LeaseBound isn’t a manifesta or a debate forum, and Rusty isn’t obligated to make it either, or make her art a place to “challenge her beliefs”, which I’m sure she does plenty in her outside life (as do I). LeaseBound is meaningful because it shows experiences that are real and don’t get room anywhere else, in a way we can laugh at/with instead of despairing (and because it challenges how women are portrayed in 90% of comics).

A lot of the situations around this have happened to me or women I know in real life in some form.

Also, and I mean this as kindly as possible because I believed all the things you believe (or well, at least some of them – I have no idea who you are outside of this topic), the arguments aren’t that strong.

Woman has a definition because it is necessary to have a word for female humans (because they not only share experiences but share oppression). Lesbian has a definition for the same reason, and so lesbians can find each other. If you don’t fit the definition, that’s okay, that’s not an insult, you simply aren’t a lesbian. I’m not a lesbian either.

For example if you aren’t a woman (female human) or aren’t exclusively attracted to other women (female humans). Male humans are included on neither side of the equation, and that’s okay too, it’s not exclusionary or anything. And I don’t know any lesbians who’d chafe at that definition, because that’s just how they are.

Trans-identifying people deserve all the rights and protections of everyone else, and deserve to be able to wear whatever they want in peace regardless of sex, but no more than that. They do not get to enforce their beliefs on other people any more than Catholics or Jehova’s Witnesses do, and they can’t make other people perceive them the way they want any more than anyone else can.

They’re not entitled to spaces or services women have set up for ourselves, though they’re welcome to make third spaces and their own services.

And there is a fundamental disagreement in politics – the concept of gender as something individual, internal and positive, versus the concept of gender as something externally socialised and harmful. I’d love to recommend you a book here, but it’s in German, so chances are that wouldn’t be helpful.

I’m interested to hear what you’d consider the strongest points brought up so far, to be honest.

      1. hey. first of all changing sides doesnt make your ideology inherently smarter. i could say literally the same thing about people who used to be gc radfems and became supportive of trans people or even realized theyre trans (i know one person like that personally).

hell, people get recruited into cults and radically change their views all the time.

second, obviously art isnt required to be challenging but leasebound is purposely set up to deconstruct “the trans ideology” or whatever you want to call it. my point is rusty mustve thought about her worldview before creating lb. why not include more parts of her thought process?

third. you argue the definition of woman should be a certain way but… why. gender dysphoria is a real thing , transition is the best solution yet
        [Citation needed]
, transwomen experience the same kind of oppression cis women do for the most part
        [Citation needed]
. looking up statistics on this takes seconds.
        [Citation needed]

you dont want them in your “single sex spaces” simply cause it makes you uncomfortable
        [Citation needed]
and ignore the rates of assaults and harassment trans people experience
        [Citation needed]
if theyre forced to use the wrong
        [sic]
        ones.

why cant they be women and why cant they be lesbians? no one is arguing that theyre exactly the same thing
        [Citation needed]
but theyre both categories of women
        [Citation needed]
        .

you could argue about the cause of dysphoria but there is currently no proof its cause is gender expectations
        [Citation needed]
. kind of sounds like its something you just made up.

yes detransitioners exist but heres the thing. people get misdiagnosed all the time. i got misdiagnosed with schizophrenia when i was 13 yet you dont see me saying schizophrenia isnt real.

when you have a medical condition its partially on you to consider what treatment to go with.

ultimately, i dont think we should define words and put people into categories based on how we feel. thanks for taking the time to reply to me though. i wish you the best.

[Her blog if you’d like to continue the spagetti toss discussion.. chain is way too long and I’d like to stop entertaining the “lesbians can like dick” crowd in my comment section.]

        1. “Ultimately, i dont think we should define words and put people into categories based on how we feel.”

This sounds nice. Yet no matter how heartfelt or performative that statement was, in practice you contradict yourself by doing the same thing, because of how you define woman (probably as something like “anyone who wants to use the word woman regardless of birthsex” or something similar) and put trans-women into the category of woman/women rather than another/outside of it based on how you feel (pity? guilt? fondness? simpathy? fear?) + how they feel.

And then expect others to follow through doing the same (in order to be deemed a good person), again based on how you + trans-women feel.

  21. Riley be looking like a female version of the “Chad” hahaha. Such masterful deflection!

  22. I have given up hope on Blaire having a redemption arc since, well, you said to give up hope…

I still admire how you made her into such a complex character… so important for making it understandable why Riley is attached to her, instead of being left wondering why she puts up with her. Also seriously deepens the upcoming hurt 😐

Brick by contrast is a walking caricature, truly worthy of mockery. Is it safe to assume all the brainwashed QTs stay that way throughout, or is one of them gonna have a “are we the baddies” moment? I look at the comment section of this page and genuinely wonder if such a thing is possible, they are so so brainwashed and painfully not self-aware.

    1. Thank you! I don’t want to give away too many spoilers, so I will simply say: trust your gut.

Honestly everytime a wave of gendies comes for LB I find myself thinking “jesus I’m too nice giving them all Blaire as representation” 🤣
